Saipua

I have a passion for small businesses with a unique sense of style and grace that so beautifully reflects the personalities of the business owners as well as their service and product offerings. I feel as though we are bombarded with commercials, corporate images, superstores and product brands that are cold, sterile, mass produced, overly masculinized (as if masculine is somehow superior) and fail to appeal to the human experience or individuality.

Saipua, a small family owned floral and handcrafted soap company based out of Brooklyn, New York, is a business that is clearly born from the hearts and souls of it's adoring owners. Since 1999, Saipua has been making the the best olive oil soaps with the most incredible scents like rose clove and lemon geranium and others made from things like saltwater, avocado, coffee and peppermint and french green clay. They have a gardener’s soap made with rosemary and mint with a base of cornmeal to get the grime off and shea butter to keep your mitts smooth and silky.

Dedicated to small business, they continue to produce soaps in small batches to assure quality and sustainability. Saipua products are currently sold in small boutiques across the US and in their own shop.

Saipua opened a new flagship store in Red Hook last summer in a gorgeous space designed by architect Jeremy Barbour of Tacklebox. The space is like walking into weathered wooden box and every corner holds a beautiful surprise tucked into a wooden cubbyhole. The smell of Saipua soap fills the air.

Just as equally fantastic are the Saipua floral arrangements. They create beautifully unique, wild, masterpieces for all occasions. Take a gander...
