A Startlingly Beautiful Single Man

A Single Man, fashion designer Tom Ford's directorial debut, is full of breathtaking images, exquisite clothing, beautiful people and talented acting. Colin Firth captivates with his central performance as George Falconer, a gay British college professor living in 1960s Los Angeles. Julianne Moore (as if I didn't adore her enough already) is absolutely stunning as the role of Charley, George's beautiful, and pathetically reclusive female friend.

The film is based on a novel by Christopher Isherwood. Without going into too much detail, the film is about a man who struggles to find meaning in his life since his longtime partner is killed in a car accident. Throughout the single day depicted in the film, George dwells on his past, his empty future and plans for his suicide that evening. Knowing this is his last day, the everyday things and encounters become special for him as he realizes that for each it is the last time.
If you're looking for a glorious feast for the eyes - go see this movie!
